PAGE 1 (five panels)

Panel 1: ANGELA LYTTON is pulling wires out of an enormous machine. She is surrounded by fire and smoke—in the background are numerous firefighters, dressed in protective suits, spraying chemicals on the fire. ANGELA has nothing to protect her. She is wearing a mechanic’s green jumpsuit and a construction helmet. She looks singed, but determined.

1 CAP:
TIMES LIKE THIS, I FORGET I’M HUMAN.

Panel 2: There is a mess of white gunk on the wires she’s pulling out—some of the wires are spitting sparks. ANGELA is ignoring them, pushing them aside with her gloved hands to get deeper into the machine. She is grimacing , and the flames are getting nearer.

1 CAP:
I FORGET THAT I’M FLESH AND BLOOD.

Panel 3: She has found what she’s looking for—a cylinder labeled ‘Fire Suppressant.’ There is a large gash in the cylinder, and the white goop is leaking from it. We can also see that the pipe leading from the cylinder is cut. ANGELA has her hands underneath the cylinder, and is drawing it out.

1 CAP:
NO MESSY PAST, NO CONFUSING PRESENT.

Panel 4: The destroyed cylinder is at her feet—she is struggling with a new one, fitting it into the case. The flames are getting higer—in the background, one of the firemen we’d seen spraying flames is being pulled away by a comrade.

1 CAP:
TIMES LIKE THIS, LIFE GETS…NARROW.

2 BENSON:
(from the communicator on ANGELA's jumpsuit) ANGELA, HOW’S IT COMING?

Panel 5: ANGELA works furiously to fit the new cylinder into the box.

1 CAP:
VERY NARROW.

2 BENSON:
ANGELA?
