A short story is loosely defined as a story between 1000 and 7000 words.
Any shorter than that, and your fiction gets labelled “flash” fiction. Which is fine, I suppose, but I’ve got a better term:

Yes. You can always trust that I will go for the juvenile and the puerile. “Flash fiction,” I think, is too… serious. I suppose there are serious artists out there…somewhere. In keeping with my site’s theme however, I think UnderShorts works MUCH better, and that is what I’m determined to call my short-short-stories here.
If someone has already made this joke, please don’t tell me. I’m terribly pleased with myself right now.
