Bailout

Some lunchtime light verse:

 Bailout

We handed out monies like Mardi Gras beads
To the rich unsuccessful despite their misdeeds.
Bush called it needful; Barack said it too;
We doled out the cash, ’cause that’s what we do.

Consumer, consumer, the US, you’ve doomed her–
You believed in their lies all too well.
You’ve got your big homes, your big cars, your cell phones
You put up your future to sell.

Let’s blame all the Demos
(‘Cause they all like homos)
It’s their fault that we’re in this trap.
Clinton arranged
Mortgage policies strange
And dumped this problem right into our lap.

NO, it’s you Repub’s,
You and your G. Dub
Who frittered the budget away
Bush and his war
Opened deficit’s door
$255 million dollars a day.

Consumer, consumer, the US, you’ve doomed her–
You believed in their lies all too well.
The shouters, and hawkers, the partisan mockers,
But you put up your future to sell.

Borrow this song, because this tune sings out free–
And tighten your belt, and roll up your sleeves.
And sell off that car, and that stuff you don’t need,
And waste not a penny to spend upon greed.

Blue-or-red stater, the US, you’ll save her
From the lies she’s lived with too long.
The bailout you buy with hot frugal pie
Will purchase a future that’s strong.
