We got to the hospital on time– I swear, we’re making a habit of being punctual or something. Her surgery was scheduled to begin at 10, but the first thing they told us was that the surgeon was just starting the case before hers, so it would be a little while.
A little while turned into 4 hours. 🙂 In any case, Tiptoe was a real gem. She played with every toy she could get her hands on, and cooed and sang and chattered and flirted with all the nurses. Very adorable. She did have a couple tantrums due to not having eaten since Wednesday night, but they were short lived.
Around 12:30, they came in and gave her some goofy-juice. The first dose didn’t do it; they had to give her another dose to get her loopy. She went fairly passively with the nurses to her surgery, but M and I both were…teary.
The surgeon called us up after he’d finished his part and told us it went exceptionally well. I got teary again; M was just relieved, I think.
In any case, we are now in her room with her. She’s got two big towers of monitors and IV equipment surrounding her. She is still asleep, but my impression is that they are going to try and get her to wake up and get off the ventilator as soon as possible. We’ll see how happy she is then…
Thanks for all the support– and keep it coming.
